🏰 LANDMARKS & HIDDEN GEMS

🏰 Castello di Belcastro

Dominating the town from the hilltop, Belcastro’s crown jewel is this medieval fortress. Likely built by the Normans in the 11th–12th century, it was later expanded under the Angevins.

Chiesa Madre dell’Annunziata

Located in the heart of the historic center, this 14th-century church is dedicated to the Annunciation.

Convento dei Domenicani

Once an important center of learning and spirituality. The cloister ruins and ancient well evoke a peaceful, almost mystical atmosphere.

Il Duomo di San Michele Arcangelo

Dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel, the celestial warrior and protector, the church dates back to the 13th or 14th century.

His feast day, celebrated on September 29, is marked with religious processions, fireworks, and village celebrations.

La Chiesa della Pietà

Small, elegant 17th-century church nestled quietly in the historic heart of Belcastro. Built during the Baroque period, it was likely commissioned by a noble or religious brotherhood devoted to the Virgin Mary in her moment of sorrow, known in Italian as la Pietà—Mary cradling the body of Jesus after the crucifixion.
